Group III

Base Oil Group III 2 cSt

Light Group III base oil, the 2 cSt viscosity class, for low-viscosity lubricants.

What is Base Oil Group III 2 cSt?

Group III 2 cSt base oil is the lightest high-viscosity-index base oil in the Synergysol Trading range. The grade name is the kinematic viscosity class at 100°C. API Group III base oils are severely hydroprocessed: viscosity index of 120 or higher, saturates of at least 90%, and sulfur of 0.03% or below.

Lubricant blenders use Group III base oil 2 cSt in low-viscosity engine oils, shock-absorber fluids, and light industrial formulas. The 4 cSt grade is the next class. Group II N70 is the light Group II grade.

Applications

Synergysol Trading supplies Group III 2 cSt base oil for light lubricants that specify a high viscosity index.

Low-viscosity passenger-car engine oils. Light engine-oil formulas use the 2 cSt class when the base oil is Group III.

Shock-absorber and specialty hydraulic fluids. These fluids name a light, high-viscosity-index base oil.

Light process and industrial oils. Process oils that have moved to Group III start at this class.

Named 2 cSt formulas. Where the specification says Group III 2 cSt, this is the base oil on the order.

Specification

Other grades in this range

These are other grades Synergysol Trading supplies. The figures in this section belong to those grades.

Group III 4 cSt is the next viscosity class. Group II N70 and Group I SN-150 are the light grades in the other two families. SN-150 is published at 5.4–7 cSt at 100°C.
