Group II
Base Oil Group II N70
Light Group II base oil for low-viscosity process oils and specialty fluids.
What is Base Oil Group II N70?
Base oil N70 is the light Group II base oil in the Synergysol Trading range. Group II base oil is hydroprocessed. Blenders specify it when a formula moves off solvent-refined Group I and needs saturates of at least 90%, sulfur of 0.03% or below, and a viscosity index from 80 to 120.
N70 is the light end of the slate: N70, N110, N150, N230, and N500. Process-oil plants use this low-viscosity hydroprocessed base oil when N110 would leave the finished oil too heavy. It is a feedstock.
Applications
Synergysol Trading supplies Group II base oil N70 for low-viscosity work on a hydroprocessed neutral.
Low-viscosity process oils. Process oils that specify Group II start at N70.
Specialty fluids. Very light specialty formulations use N70 when the base oil has to be hydroprocessed.
Light industrial lubricants. A light machine oil is blended on N70 when N110 is heavier than the target.
Named N70 formulas. Where the specification says Group II N70, this is the base oil on the order.

Other grades in this range
These are other grades Synergysol Trading supplies. The figures in this section belong to those grades.
The Group II ladder continues with N110, N150, N230, and N500. Group I SN-150 is the light solvent neutral, at 5.4–7 cSt at 100°C. Group III 2 cSt is the light high-viscosity-index grade.
Frequently asked questions
What is Group II N70?
N70 is a light hydroprocessed Group II base oil for process oils, specialty fluids, and light industrial lubricants.
What does Group II mean?
API Group II base oils are hydroprocessed, with saturates of at least 90%, sulfur of 0.03% or below, and a viscosity index from 80 to 120.
How does N70 compare with N110?
N70 is the lighter grade. N110 is the next Group II neutral, used for light hydraulic and compressor oils.
What are the published results for N70?
Appearance is liquid, colorless to yellow. Kinematic viscosity is greater than 13 mm²/s. The Cleveland open-cup flash point is 168°C.
