What is Bitumen VG-40?
Bitumen VG-40 supplied by Synergysol Trading is the stiffer viscosity grade. Dynamic viscosity at 60°C is 3,200–4,800 poise. Penetration at 25°C is 40–60 mm/10. Kinematic viscosity at 135°C is a minimum of 400 cSt.
The softening point is a minimum of 50°C. Flash point is a minimum of 220°C. Ductility at 25°C is a minimum of 25 cm. Specific gravity at 25°C is a minimum of 0.99. Solubility is a minimum of 99%.
Applications
Synergysol Trading supplies VG-40 for heavy-duty paving specified on the higher viscosity grade.
Heavy-traffic highways. Mixes that specify VG-40 use the 3,200–4,800 poise band.
Industrial paving. Heavily loaded pavements name VG-40 for the stiffer binder.
High-temperature service. The higher softening point, minimum 50°C, is the VG-40 grade.
