Waxes

Heavy Slack Wax

Heavy slack wax, 16–23% oil, from solvent dewaxing.

What is Heavy Slack Wax?

Heavy slack wax supplied by Synergysol Trading is the higher-oil slack wax from solvent dewaxing. Oil content is 16–23%. The melting point is a minimum of 60°C. Kinematic viscosity at 100°C is 5–7 cSt. The Cleveland open-cup flash point is a minimum of 200°C and color is a maximum of 2.5.

Refiners and emulsion plants take the heavy grade when the formula is built on that oil content. Light slack wax is the 10–14% grade. Residue wax is oilier still, at 45–60%.

Applications

Synergysol Trading supplies heavy slack wax for refining and industrial uses that specify 16–23% oil.

Wax refining. The heavy slack wax is a feedstock at 16–23% oil and a melting point of at least 60°C.

Particle-board emulsions. Emulsion formulas that want the oilier slack wax name this grade.

Industrial blends. Blends written on heavy slack wax, rather than light slack wax or paraffin, use this oil content.

Color up to 2.5. Color is held at a maximum of 2.5, with flash point at a minimum of 200°C.
