Rubber process oil

Light Rubber Process Oil

Aromatic rubber process oil at a maximum of 35 cSt at 100°C.

What is Light Rubber Process Oil?

Light rubber process oil is an aromatic extender oil supplied by Synergysol Trading for tire and industrial rubber compounds. It softens the compound, helps it process, and stays in the vulcanizate. The light grade is specified at a kinematic viscosity of 35 cSt maximum at 100°C.

Density is 1.01 g/cm³ at 100°C, the flash point is 200–230°C, and the refractive index is 1.55. Compounders read that refractive index as the aromatic character of the oil. Heavy RPO is the companion grade, at 35 cSt minimum, density 1.05 g/cm³, and refractive index 1.56.

Applications

Synergysol Trading supplies light rubber process oil for compounds that specify the lower-viscosity aromatic extender.

Tire tread, sidewall, and carcass. Tire compounds that name a light aromatic rubber process oil use this grade.

Belts, hoses, and molded goods. Industrial rubber uses light RPO when the formula needs less body than the heavy grade.

Viscosity at 35 cSt maximum. Where kinematic viscosity at 100°C is 35 cSt maximum, light RPO is the grade.

Processing aid. The oil softens the batch during mixing and remains in the cured rubber.

Frequently asked questions

What is light rubber process oil?

Light RPO is an aromatic extender oil for tire and industrial rubber, specified at 35 cSt maximum at 100°C.

How do light and heavy RPO differ?

Light RPO is 35 cSt maximum at 100°C, density 1.01 g/cm³, refractive index 1.55. Heavy RPO is 35 cSt minimum, density 1.05 g/cm³, refractive index 1.56.

Why does refractive index matter?

The refractive index on this grade is 1.55, which marks the oil as an aromatic process oil.

What does the certificate add?

The certificate of analysis supplied with the shipment applies to that cargo, including the method for density at 100°C.
